Trying to find out if friends are active?

Post  Katyc on Sun Nov 25, 2012 6:42 pm

    Hi,

I have nearly 400 friends, but am very sure that a lot of them have stopped playing. I was thinking if it is a wise idea to go through my friends list before the thanksgiving quest ends and see who has a turkey or snatchin Indian in their manor - and assume they are not active?
    Any thoughts?

It's usually pretty obvious if people aren't playing, just visit them and see whether their strength and/or energy is full, if so then they're probably not playing so unless they have some valuable things roaming their manor then you can safely delete them... I hate to delete people but its pretty pointless having to search through long lists of friends especially if you know they're not playing any more, hope this helps!

I more often than not play with a games torch/rose artefact and a golden Phoenix running so my energy will pretty much always show as full

That would be a good start, but doesn't prove that a friend is inactive - there's a known bug that causes a person's manor state to be replaced with that of a friend that they were visiting, if they leveled up during the visit and haven't explored a room since then. However, if you write down the people with no turkey or Indian now, you'll only have to check those people later on to verify if they are inactive - write down their level and check again in a week, perhaps.

At 400 friends, you might want to push on to the 500 friends achievement before starting to trim the list, anyway.

I noticed that the game won't let me gift the new chargers to people who haven't updated. I'm going to give friends a few days in case they were on vacation for Thanksgiving, then start trimming that way.

This is exactly what I did. I visited my entire list of friends, taking note of all who didn't have the tukey/indian. Then I wall-requested a charging item from each of them as an extra step just in case. Out of 45 friends on the newly created "hit list", only 3 gifted me the charger. I just deleted the other 42, reducing my friends by about 25%. I can now be more targeted with my gifting and tipping.

I'm at 441 friends right now and trying to get the 500 friends achievement, but after I get there I'm going to delete the inactive people because it's too difficult to manage. I use a check system to figure out who's active right now (since I don't want to waste gifts on those who don't play). Obviously people who don't have the latest roamers are the first sign. After that I look for full energy/strength and if both of those are full, I'll make note of their name and level and then send them a request like pallhedge did. If I get nothing back after a few days, I mark them as inactive and don't visit them anymore. When I get ready to delete people I'll just check everybody on my list again to see if anything has changed (like if they leveled up) and delete them if not.

I recently found out that you can't invite friends into a boss battle if they haven't updated their game to include that content. (The game will give you an error stating that the person's game is out of date when you try to invite them to a battle).

So, I started trying to invite all of the players that I suspected had dropped out. Discovered at least 60 folks who hadn't updated to the current game version, so I knew I could safely delete them.

It may not help you find the players who keep the app up-to-date but don't actually play, but it's a quick way of finding out which players have quit completely.

Sly, I updated but I won't join in Crypt Boss battle as I haven't the keys for entry. Neither do I feel ready! If i am going in, I am going to make sure he dead when I leave!

But, I have bugbears about activity too, which is why I put a post in Chitchat.

I'm trimming my FL further based on this, Who needs Friends who CBA to tip? 100% Strength says volumes.

I don't drop friends who choose not to battle... i totally understand that choice.
i just remove the ones at higher levels where the game reports that they have an outdated version and can't even be invited.

At the moment, if you want to know whether someone is on the latest version, try sending them one of the Thanksgiving chargers from your gift list. It will not allow you to do so if they have not updated
