Diamonds are no longer given when adding new friends. GI stated this would be the case from henceforth. They state giving diamonds as a reward for adding friends is a violation of an Apple regulation and deleted this capability with the last update.

The friend synthesizer can:
1. Help you quickly add friends to compete the friends achievement to add 500 friends and receive the reward ( see Guide to achievement rewards)
2. Add new friends when you have had to delete friends who are no longer active, yet still need friends who are active and will gift, tip, etc. ( yes, many friends in the synthesizer are now inactive, but you can delete them quickly and keep the others)
3. Add new friends to try and get a certain type of friend, ie by occupation or level.
Bottom line, it is a great way to add friends quickly still.

It doesn't add friends quicker. I added 20 friends about a week ago and they are still in the pending column. Bit of a waste of time in my opinion.

I should clarify--that we can add the codes quicker. Quicker than trying to add codes using those posted in the FB forum or even by hand looking at the code thread on here. When I used the synthesizer, I sped it up to 8-10 sec per code. I type fast.
True they may sit in the pending column awhile, until someone realizes they are there....but my experience has been that after a 15-30 minute session of adding codes. Within the hour I have 30-40 new friends. They are usually the active ones or are new players seeking friends.
