What's more beneficial. Should you banish Phenomena by using your Tesla coils, Angry Idols, etc. Or should you go ahead and play the room out and banish them that way?

My personal preference is to search the room in as short time as possible, usually collection items that are more sight after dropped in room with phenomena.

To me it depends on what you need. Some quests say that you have to search a room with the phenomenon to get the item. Also, if you're completing the achievements you have to search the room to get credit.
Me personally, although I hate the mist phenom, am searching through the rooms to compete the achievement. Once that's done best believe I will never search a room with a phenomenon unless it is for a quest.

I agree with pauline - the most beneficial in terms of finding items is to search the room. During the Full Moon Event, the drop rate for rare weapons (medaillions, salt or swamp monster flare pistols) are really high, and even during "normal times", you always (I think) get at least some item.
I actually can count the times I've used the banishing objects on one hand (and I really hate the mist as well, kmad, although I have the feeling you get to know the room really well with it...)

Hah! Except the achievements have you searching 800 ROOMS with each phenomenon in order to get the 5th ribbon! I don't think I'll ever get there!
