So.... I have 'healed' him with the help of friends twice today... Yet it is starting the whole process over requiring me to get keys to get to him to 'heal' him.... Again. What am I missing here?? I'm so confused!!!

After you heal him, you should have gotten a chest with entry keys and other items in it. You then get 2 hours to explorer the bunker. Then it closes up again and you have to go through the process of healing the general again to enter the bunker.

Yeah... No chest and no entry either. That sucks. Should I contact GI about it?

Have you looked in your inventory under the chests tab? A first, I didn't know how to find some of my inventory items either. Also, u only get the chest if you have finished "healing" him and you are a winner. Usually like 3 people win. I would try playing it one more time before you contact GI since it is one of the cheapest rooms to get into. Contacting GI may give you a headache.

I did look in my inventory to check after Skyler mentioned it... Nothing. I'll just keep trying to get the keys and try again when I get to it! Thank you both for the info!

Also, if you started it but then go sidetracked and didn't come back for several hours, it is possible that it opened then closed. When you first start the process, you are given a time limit to heal the general. If you don't heal him within that time limit, it resets on you. So, there could be several issues that may have happened. Did you get word that the general was healed? If so, the top 3 healers should have gotten chests and the bunker would have been open for 2 hours. So, the real issue is whether or not you saw that he was healed. If you did, then you need to contact support. If you did not, then maybe he was not completely healed and the time limit expired.
