Never completed this quest and would like to get it off my list. My question is: if I request it from friends, can I return it later or will the item be taken from my inventory? I don't want to make false promises to friends!

No they will not be taken away. But make sure you write down who sent them to you. If you have friends with the same name be sure you know which one sent it!

I too still need one of those lovely ikaibana. I think it was my very first quest!! I want it gone but I think that after all this time I might miss looking at those pretty blue flowers in my manor... Not! Funny how that one just kinda got swept under the rug. I didn't try very hard to get them. Maybe one of these days!!!
