Professor Gauguins Workshop?

I've noticed in the store that there is items called mechanical helps which are 1) used as collection items if you want to buy them, unsure if they are found in rooms though. And 2) to open Gauguins workshop? This item has been there since I starting playing the game but wasn't sure if they were ever needed. Maybe it's future update?
