Any suggestions on how to discern if a player is no longer playing? I want to trim down my friend list, but am not too sure on what to look for. Thanks!

I have 3 friends who I don't think are playing any more. Each time I've visited them, I see no change in their stats....amount of energy, no more collections added, still at the same level that they were at when they first became my friend, etc. For example, one of them was at level 30 when she became my friend; I was at level 23. She's still level 30...and I'm now level 33. Plus, I have sent gift requests to them and have gotten no answer. I think it's same to assume they're no longer playing.

I do the same. Just from my daily interaction with friends, if I come across friends whose names I do not recognize, low level, and does not accept gifts or messages, then I delete.
You could make a spreadsheet if you are really dedicate to the game.

If anything keep track of who sends just mystery gifts, who sends gifts and mystery gifts, and who you get nothing from...I like to keep my numbers low so after a while I'll delete low levels that I only get mystery gifts from.

I'm really thinking about the spreadsheet idea, even if it seems a bit obsessive haha I think I also have several friends who don't realize they can visit other people - I've had a few friends who I thought for sure weren't playing anymore, but it seems like they explore rooms (energy is low), but never visit friends (strength always at maximum).

There are some friends have mists in almost every room those either don't play or not good players. Also I delete those with very low reputation compared to their level as those do not help others or visit them often

Also I like to look at wall activities it's good way to tell how active your friend is

I admit, I've made a spreadsheet. I print a new one out every week. These are my columns.
1. Skinny column blank, I pencil a dot for when I receive a gift from them. I circle when I leave hints for them.
2. level/rep -- handwritten at start of week
3. skinny column blank. I put a dot in here if either their level or rep goes up during the week
3. friend's names -- in order they appear when visiting
4. Trades--dot if they have trade with me. When I update the master list, I color this a shade of blue, then I know who right away who has been willing to trade in the past.
5. gift given -- again a dot if I receive a gift I requested via the wall ...multiples dots thru out the week.
6. what they need -- I look at their walls, when I visit, to see what they might need from my gift wall. I use codes (mbo=mobius box, gk=green klein, etc.) This is updated once a week or if I happen to be visiting their collection to see if they have something to trade
7. hints -- a dot here if they leave hints...counts the same as if they left me a gift.
8. Other notes misc. notes to myself -- maybe what they have extra, etc.
If someone sends me a gift or hint, I make sure I leave them at least one/two hints. When I do I circle my dot in column one. That helps me remember who to start with when my friend energy is restored. Everything is in pencil, so I can erase at the beginning of the next day.
I use my gifts received and hints dots to see who is actively responding to my gift requests. Two weeks with no gifts or hints to me means a likely delete. Mind you, these are not collection gifts!
The level/rep column helps me know who to request what from (ie if a certain gift is only avail at a certain level, I'll only ask those friends). It also tells me if they are active -- I watch to see if the rep lvl goes up in particular.
A clean sheet is printed at the beginning of each week -- any new friends are penciled in throughout the week at the end of my list and then added to the master before I print a new list.
This works for me b/c I'm still at 55-60 friends. It would be cumbersome if I had too many. :->

Move trade column, replace mg column with hints column. Dots are quick and easy. Now at 104 friends and this still works for me.)

I think I am going to make a spread sheet too! More than likely it won't last long but I need it to trim my list down. I have around 200 friends right now and it is too much for me to keep track of. Honestly I am getting tired of helping and gifting people that never return the favor. Ran across a friend today that was lvl 40ish and had a rep of 7. I'm thinking oh they must have just started adding friends. Then I see they had almost 2,500 friends!! Delete! I like to trade but 90% of my offers go unanswered. Dunno, maybe I'm doing it wrong.

If anyone wants to share their spreadsheet template, I am more than happy to host it.

Deleting Friends
This is probably a dumb question, but how do you delete a friend?

Not a dumb question at all. Go to your Friend list; look for the friend you want to delete, then tap the X on the right hand side, above where it says Visit.
Btw....I've discovered it's a good idea to wait a long time before deciding to delete someone. One of the people who I thought had quit playing, just sent me a gift, and I see her stats have changed. Good to see her back.

Are Friends Still Playing?
A friend I'm considering deleting is also one of my Helpers. If I delete this friend, do I get a replacement Helper? If so, how is that determined?

Yes, that friend will be removed as a helper. The next neighbor on your right side will become the next helper.
(That is, if you have 10 helpers, numbers 1-10 friends in your manor list, not friend list, are your helpers. If you delete helper #5, friend #11 in the manor list will become your helper.)

Thanks for your response.
But I do not understand where the manor list is on the right side. Can you please explain? Thanks.

When you are at a friend's manor, you can go visit the person before or after the current friend. I call the friend after the current friend the right-side neighbor as you have to click the icon on the right side.
Continuing my example from above, if you delete Helper #5, friend #11 becomes your new helper. To see who friend #11 is, find a helper's manor and visit him/her. Then, keep going to the right-side neighbor. The first person you reach that isn't already a helper will be your next helper.
You can delete friends strategically so that all your helpers give good bonuses.
