Pending friends

What does it mean when you have a "pending friend" stay pending, even though they supplied you their code? I am relatively new at this. I am feeling a bit rejected.

Pending just means that they haven't accepted your friend request for whatever reason. Generally, I wait a couple of days and then I delete. There are too many players out there to waste time worrying about a few that might not play very regularly.

I thought the only way to get new friends was to click on the Make Friends button and then it adds the person into the Pending Friends area. Then when they show up in that list with the Accept button, you then decide if you Accept or Decline them.

Well, every day my friend list numbers are increasing more and more WITHOUT me accepting anyone. How does this happen? Here I have been laboring on trimming my Friend List down and the numbers are growing by leaps and bounds!! Is there any way to prevent this from happening??

When you add a friend using the Add Friends tab by clicking Make Friends, you have already accepted them. That person will see you as pending. Once they accept you, you two are friends. You are not given the opportunity to 'Accept' them, as that is assumed when you click Make Friends.
