Finding canisters, seed, etc...

Hello, this is my first post and I have a question about collecting room entry items like canisters, seeds, and corals. I am currently level 89 & I waited until mid 80's to enter Area 51, ocean, and sakura room. At that time I had several hundered of each item needed to search each room that I burned through rather quickly. I do have 2 chests with 500 of each, but I also know that 1000 won't last long as I try to continue to level up. Is there a strategy other than banishing seahorses, farmers, etc.. and the couple of collections to get these? Seems like it will take a long time to get to max expert level for these... Is that normal?

I don't know of any strategies, per se, to GET the keys for certain rooms. However, i have continued to collect keys (cannonballs, corals, batteries, gravitons, etc) and have not searched any of the rooms that use them unless I have a quest to search it. It is just too hard to collect enough of the keys for many of the rooms to search them "just because."

As for working your way through the room levels: each level jumps a certain percentage every time you search a room. By the time you get to expert level, you will have to search the room 100 times to get to 100% expert...that is 5000 keys! This again is why I never search a room unless I have a quest (or event) that requires me to search.

I wish I had followed the advice given by Mbstr8k. I burned through all my key items quickly because I wanted to level up as fast as possible and the rooms requiring keys give the most experience points.Then when I got lots of quests requiring me to get into those rooms I was stuck, sometimes for a pretty long time.

Thanks for the replies, you have good points and I am now glad that I have not used my 500 ea keys from my two chests yet. I think I will use mbstr8k's strategy to only search those rooms when quests come. They should provide some alternatives to gaining keys like they do for runestones as I am swimming in those and often search the fortune telling room so many times just because I can.

you can get keys, other than cannonballs (!) by charging certain collections. Of course, it takes a long time to collect and charge these collections and if you are at the expert level, you will only get enough keys to go in the room one time. I havent been in the pirate brig more than a couple of times the past month.
