I have over 100 friends! Now when I accept new friends I am not receiving the diamonds. Is this due to a bug or has that option changed? Please help because I am loosing so many diamonds!

Unfortunately, the ability to get diamonds for adding friends has been removed by GI some time ago.

Thank you so much. I kept getting different answers for that. Now that I know I can move on. Thanks! So the only way to get diamonds is to level up or purchase them in the bank?

That's right, those are now the only two ways to get diamonds in MM.

A weekly event (every Friday night) can get 5 diamonds too.
A button will show on right side, where the G! button shown.
