Are there quests which involve banishing the Jazzmen and Party Planners? I'm 80% through the second cake layer ( flour pans are this years' oil cans, lol) but have never gotten any quests to do anything with those planners and jazzmen? I have quite a few of the tools need built up. Should I go ahead and banish those guys or wait until I'm asked to?

There aren't quests to banish them, but you might save some weapons for the anniversary quests after the cake. It will save you from searching rooms for some of the items required. If it is an item that drops from jazzman or planner you can bash till you get it instead of searching for the item

The rewards I can get frm planners and jazzmen are not 'all' the items needed to make the collection. For example, I can get only two of the 'characters' or two of the 'band' players. Can I assume that the rest only drop when you have done more of the cake quest, so that n fact it is worth hanging on to jazzmen and party planners til I'm further in and can get a wider variety of drops?

The rest of those item you will get it from searching manor but of course there is a quest for that. Once you finish the old quest then the new one appears.
