Items to build pirate ship?

How do I request the items to build the pirate ship (lifeboats, etc.)? I keep seeing posts about requesting them from friends (and I know that friends requested them from me before), but now that I have the quests, I only see the option to purchase the items with diamonds or to find them in rooms with certain phenomena. Am I missing something incredibly obvious? Please tell me this isn't something else that changed with the update! Thanks for any tips or suggestions

Never mind ... It WAS something incredibly obvious. Found it by tapping on the ship itself!
