CRASH! CRASH! CRASH! CRASH! CRASH!

I'm on iPad 1. I've always limped along like the walking wounded, but the last update has again ruined my game.

It's now unplayable.

I can't scroll, I crash collecting gifts, I crash even replying to wall messages. Ive got no bombs and can't charge without crashing, even if I try and change my wish list......

I know it's the same for most people on iPad one (and some ipad2!), and I guess there's not even anything we can do about it. Maybe you'll just join me here for a sympathetic moaning session!

Is there anything we can do?

(and don't start suggesting buying new iPads for Mystery Manor, they've scalped me enough and all my other apps work just fine!!).

I still have the everso helpful email from GI tech support that says...

Yes this It is a common problem for first generation iPad users. The Game crashes because of lack of free RAM memory for the game. Beware it is not free disk space, it is memory that is used by any app while running. You reboot your device every time before playing Mystery Manor and It will let the game to run better.

AND WHILE IM STILL RANTING.....

Why the hell are they releasing a game, taking money for a game, then admitting the iPad 1 does not have enough RAM to play the game? Why was I never told that before they took money off of me??

Would it not make common bloody sense to have the HD version for iPad 3, then have a low res/lite/mobile version for iPad 1users or people currently playing on a 3G connection??

What is sad is it could happen to the iPad 2 players next.... If GI decides they would rather update to help iPad 3 players... So I hope other players will take your and other ipad1 players concerns serious.... Whether iPad 1, iPad 2, Android, and any other device MM is played on, we need to help our ipad 1 friends... Why do they even advertise it for iPad 1 if it doesn't work is my question... I can only imagine how frustrating it is for you... So sorry... :-(

I agree. Every time they update they just seem to add more marketing schemes for themselves. If they cleared up all the old rubbish left about maybe it would be better. I'm level 200+ and still get entry items for the Africa, library, hunting room coming from room searches.

I feel your pain! I just sent a ticket into the help desk. I'm guessing I'll get the same reply you did too. Mi think its really crappy that they say it store all iPads publicly, but then admit this in an email. It does help if you close everything else that's running and then do a hard shutdown and a hard start. It doesn't keep it from crashing completely but it seems to reduce it a bit.

Okay I'm on iPad 1. Some updates have been fantastic. 1.9 for instance. I could even go straight from my manor to high level friends and scroll through collections etc without one crash. What they've done is add bells and whistles that use up ram. The animated collections when you charge them is a big one. Gathering these tips have helped it work a tiny bit better. These are all from others, not my brain power at all. Turn off all notifications in settings, some crashes are caused by FB telling you that there is a new comment etc. in settings turn off anything that sends a notification and also turn off iMessage. Instead of scrolling through collections go directly there. Say you want to look at island collection. Open island choose one of the items to be found say the parrot and click on it. Up comes a box saying go to collection. I have found that 50% of the time I can charge the collection. Better odds than I had before! Usually if I manage a charge I explore a room or two to keep it "real" and then do it again. I have asked since August the 9th for them to reconsider the ditzy gyrations but they act like I'm unique! Send crash reports etc. you can see by FB that lots of people have the problem. Anyway it sort of helps me. I crash every 10 minutes instead of 90 seconds.

Omg I can't tell you how many emails I have form them saying send a crash report. Then they'd just ignore me and ask me to send a crash report.

I've spoken with a techie friend who suggested reverting the iPad back to OS 4.2. Er....it was SOMETHING along the lines of the newer OS versions expecting a much faster response time from apps, and booting them if they don't respond in time.

Something like that anyway. Now if only I knew how to revert to 4.2 I'd try it and let you know!!
