Generally it's low level collection items like dust bunnies, dogs, stamps etc or tools like time snails and torches, also collection chargers like klein bottles, mobius bows. I don't think there is a definitive list as it's very random.

To see what is in each gift, you would have to open it and the close the gift window to see what you got, then go back to gift window to open the next gift.
If you open several gifts at a time, it will only show you one of any duplicate items, but you will get them all in inventory.
Lately, things have been dropping that used to be very hard to get.

So, every time someone sends back a 'Thank You' when they open your gift, you get one of these little items back? That's nice
