I have a bunch of gravitrons in my inventory. apparantly they're used to enter flying saucers...how does this work? I haven't been given the option to enter one...

Don't worry, the UFO room is at the end of a long string of quests! What quests do you have right now?

Which quests do you need to do to be able to enter flying saucers?
I have no idea, and can't find an answer anywhere!
My current quests in hand are:
Knights Steed
Collecting Parts
Amber Comb
Someone Scattered Spikes
Ten Monkeys
A Firm Handshake
We're No Slouches

The most significant quest you'll get that indicates you are on your way to the UFO is the one that requires you to banish 3 different types of robots. You can find the 300 oil can thread on here that will show you what to do. Basically.....use the synthesizer and buy the oil cans. Oil cans don't have a high drop rate. In the meantime, save any that you get!!

I've got a quest that tells me to find three flying saucers, but I have no idea where to start looking. Does anybody know where they are

I have the same request asking me to find 3 flying saucers. I am at level 111 and I am putting together the pirate ship. Did I miss the flying saucer?
