Oil cans, what oil cans?

I hope someone can help me...
I'm at level 88 and have not had any invitation to open the pirate ship or UFO yet. At the moment I am having to collect the oilcans to catch the robots, which I think may lead to the UFO.

Just now I noticed that any musical robots I collect do not appear in my inventory, and actually the oil cans don't appear in any list of items collectible in any of the rooms. What do I do?

If I can't complete the task, then I'll never move on...not sure what to do next.

There are two robot quests. The first one required ten of them. The later one requires ten of each of the three types. They drop from rooms, you can't request them. Or you buy them.

They do appear in the found boxes if there's a phenom or curse in the room.
