Unable to fully exit MM

Lately, when I exit my Kindle MM, it seems to go into pause or suspend mode. My energy stops accumulating and I go right back into MM where I exited. While it is nice to not have to wait for MM to warm up again, it is not nice to stop accumulating energy overnight. Is this something new? or am I doing something wrong?

I'm having this problem too. Very frustrating because I run out of energy too quickly. I'm tired of having to buy energy (or anything). This is a fun game, but I don't want to go broke playing. Is there a glitch in logging out? I've turned off my iPad all the way several times, but still never get recharged fully.
