I have around 15 "friends" that are apparently not. They show up on my list and I can visit them to get rewards but when I try to request/send gifts I get a message that this user is not your friend! Wtf? Is there a way I can get rid of them? How the heck did they end up there in the first place? Have you ever unfriended someone and why??

Re: The mystery of vanishing friends
Yes, I have a few too. These friends are broken in one of several ways, in addition to the way you described in your post:
1- Trying to visit their page results in a message stating the player is not my friend though they appear on my friend list. I cannot send gifts to these friends either.
2- When going between my friends' manors, I have a few friends that, when I click their icon, results in a general error message (forgot the message.. once I find it, I'll edit post). I can never visit these friends' manors but I can gift to them and receive gifts from them.
I think the game database of users have some flaws that results in these errors. It's poor planning on GI's part.

I've had this problem too. Is it possible that the person and I were once friends, then they unfriended me, but I haven't unfriended them yet? Or, if one person unfriends, does it automatically remove themselves from the other person's list?

It should automatically remove from both sides, however, the bug is that it doesn't. Once that happens, I don't think we can really unfriend these broken friendships

I don't understand why I was unfriended! Why go to the trouble of friending someone if you delete them a week later?

Many people send out friend requests and then delete them because they don't really want or need more friends. They just want the diamonds that you get for entering a friend code.

Re: The mystery of vanishing friends
I understand that they hate the long friend lists, but there are benefits to having as many friends as you can get. You're bound to get more gifts per day. You can also send out 1 request per friend, so it's super easy to get the charge items you need. I received about 100 scope analyzers in one day just from sending out requests to some of my friends.

Re: The mystery of vanishing friends
I agree. More friends = more gifts and more request opportunities. I was just trying to explain why someone might be quickly unfriended. Another reason is your level in the game. Usually you don't know someone's level until after entering a friend code, and a lot of people are choosy about who they let into their friends list once they have a lot of friends. I'm guilty of entering someone's friend code and then deleting them before they've even had a chance to accept the pending request because I saw that they were a really low level, or a reputation level of 1. A lot of friends is great, but if their level is really low they either don't play much, which wouldn't help me at all, or can't send higher level gifts, which also wouldn't be of much help. I'm sure there are other reasons someone might be unfriended quickly that I haven't mentioned. But in any case, I wouldn't take it personally.

Re: The mystery of vanishing friends
Just to tell I found such kind of unfriended friends in my list too. Understand that they look for diamonds only. And it is after some time that I understand why it seems that many players do not rely on the random friends' suggestion list provided in the game, and the reason could be that they don't get anything for this. I build my friends list very slowly before sharing my code.
I feel that this game mirrors a lot the situation in real life. It is true that some people approach others just for some kind of benefit. But each of us almost can never achieve all of one's own tasks without friends. At first I don't know I can send gifts free and it's only after some time that I know I can send them even though I may not own it! And we have a lot of gifts (talents in real life?) that can benefit others at zero cost, while it could be a very costly thing for others to get by themselves. So to play it successfully I would not waste my quota of gifts and items and try to give the best fit things.

Re: The mystery of vanishing friends
I know when I first started the game I didn't understand how "Friends" worked. My daughter and I played and got up to Level 10 or so before we realized (kinda) how they worked and accepted a few. I sent out free gifts regularly and noticed that we received mystery gifts in return.
We accidentally figured out how to leave the tips for friends and were leaving them tips for several days before received our first tips so we didn't know what we were doing even!
We were even slower on finding out what/how the wall worked. I even used it to ask how I could add collection chargers to my wish list.
Now I use all three regularly, but there was definitely a learning curve!
For this reason, I don't shy away from beginners. I leave them a few tips and send a few free gift items (who doesn't need mobius bows) before deciding if they aren't really participating.
I think lower level friends would benefit from getting the link to this forum. (Can we add link to their walls? )It answers SO MANY questions that in the beginning you just find out by trial and error. GI's MM FB help section isn't all that helpful or clear with the real basics --
1. How and why to accept friends
2. How and why to ask for friends
3. How and why to gift
4. Difference between gifting from free collection and personal item collections
5. Leaving tips: What they are and why they are good
I know it says in the FB helpful hints, you can get diamonds by trading.....I have yet to figure out trading what? Too bad, GI doesn't add a forum similar to this so that players can help each other out with hints, etc.
It would probably cut down on their support e-mails!! And certainly make it easier to find amongst all the miscellaneous posts on their wall!
So happy I found this page....

Thanks for spreading the word! The more users we have the more collective insight we have.
